Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility

Sustainable development is defined in the UK as enabling all people throughout the world to satisfy their basic needs and enjoy a better quality of life, without compromising the quality of life of future generations. Defra undertakes an annual review of progress towards the UK indicators of sustainable development.

ISO 26000: 2010 states that sustainable business for organizations means not only providing products and services that satisfy the customer, and doing so without jeopardizing the environment, but also operating in a socially responsible manner. The guidance provided in this standard enables organizations to benefit from operating environmentally and socially responsible management programmes.
